FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - In Washington on Friday, The Justice Department recognized National Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP) Awareness Day, held on May 5. Alaska lawmakers have passed a bill to name a bike path in Fairbanks after a cyclist who was tragically killed. It was in November of 2022 when Matt Glover was struck by a vehicle while on his daily commute between North Pole and Fairbanks. He died weeks later from his injuries, at just 48 years old. The Matt Glover Bike Path will be a soon-to-be-built bike and walking path connecting Badger Road and Airport Way. The governor's signature is just needed to make it official.

Eagle River resident charged with possession of a firearm as a felon
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - A man in Eagle River was charged last week for being a felon in possession of a firearm. In October 2023, Kyle Reynolds, 27, allegedly possessed a firearm during a domestic violence assault, according to court documents. Reynolds, prior to this alleged event, had a felony conviction for assault and failing to stop at the direction of a peace officer which resulted in serious injury.
