Standoff in downtown Wichita ends with one in custody
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - One person is in custody after an hourslong standoff in the Old Town area of Wichita on Wednesday afternoon. Police say they responded at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday to an apartment building in the 600 block of E Douglas for the report of a woman stating she was assaulted and threatened with a weapon by a man she lived with. Officers arrived at the scene and located the woman, but were unable to get the man out of an apartment.

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Meteorologist Peyton Sanders says that it will be very hot on Thursday with a chance of isolated thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening. It will be a warm start to the day on Thursday with morning low temperatures near 70 degrees. Afternoon highs will reach the upper 90s to near 103 degrees. With high humidity, heat index values could approach 105 degrees over central and eastern Kansas.
Sheriff: Kansas man drowned attempting water rescue
SEDGWICK COUNTY —Two men drowned over the weekend at a lake in Sedgwick County. Just after 1 a.m. Sunday, sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Lake Afton, located east of the intersection of Viola Road or 263rd Street W and MacArthur Road- 39th St. S, on a report of a possible drowning, according to a statement from the Sedgwick County Sheriff's office.

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - One person is in critical condition after a crash in east Wichita on Sunday afternoon. Sedgwick County dispatch says the crash happened just after 3:45 p.m. at E Corporate Hills Drive and S Webb Rd near Costco.
