GREENVILLE — Since receiving requests from residents to help avoid potential conflicts between neighbors concerning fence issues, the Greenville Planning Board has been working on a fence ordinance for the community. Board members have looked at other ordinances from around the state and these suggestions have been incorporated into drafts of the ordinance, which would be the first of its kind for Greenville.

NORRIDGEWOCK, Maine — The Somerset County Sheriff's Office says a man is being held in county jail on several charges after an hours-long standoff in Norridgewock on Monday. Witnesses reportedly called law enforcement to Red Barn Road just before 9 a.m. for an armed man "screaming and hollering" outside his home. The man, later determined to be 32-year-old Nicholas Eckert, was also allegedly threatening anyone who called the police.

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The 50th annual Kiwanis Club of Dover-Foxcroft Piscataquis River Race is set for Saturday, April 27 from Guilford to Dover-Foxcroft. Sponsored by Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis Charities, Inc., the race starts at King Cummings Park in Guilford and paddlers will head approximately 10 miles down the Piscataquis River to the finish line located across West Main Street from Foxcroft Academy.
