KBI investigates officer-involved shooting in Haskell Co.
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Sunday morning around 1:50 a.m. A Haskell Co. deputy attempted to make a traffic stop at the intersection of Hwy 83 and Hwy 56 that then led to a pursuit. The pursuit proceeded to Hwy 144 after the deputy requested help. After turning east on Hwy 144 in an effort to perform a U-turn, the subject’s car struck the deputy’s car and came to a halt in the north ditch.

Sunday storm drops EF-0 tornado on northern Osage County
Results of a National Weather Service survey found evidence that an EF-0 tornado touched down briefly Sunday evening, May 19, 2024, north of Burlingame, Kan., as thunderstorms blew through the area. Extensive straight line wind damage from the storm has been reported in the northern Osage County and southwestern Shawnee County, and another tornado reportedly touched down briefly near Dover a short time later.
