ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - A Rockford man faces murder charges nearly a year after a shooting at rooftop party left a 24-year-old dead. Martavius Young, 25, is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and possession of a firearm without a FOID card.

Heat, humidity return Wednesday, stormy periods follow
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Temperatures took their first step in the warmer direction Tuesday thanks to early sunshine and the realignment of our winds, this time blowing out of the southwest. The official high temperature of 79° checked in just a degree shy of the 80° normal high for June 11, but promises to be, without a doubt, the coolest high temperature we’ll see here for quite some time.
Shower chances come to an end Tuesday evening as heat builds back in Wednesday
Temperatures Tuesday afternoon were able to warm into the mid and upper 70s before cloud cover moved in during the afternoon and evening. A warm front moving through the Stateline also brought with it a few light showers, but with plenty of dry air near the surface most of the rain showing up on radar had a hard time actually reaching the surface. There were a few locations that received a couple sprinkles or light showers, but most remained dried.

Beloit Health System proposes hospital at NorthPointe campus in Roscoe
BELOIT, Wis. (WIFR) - The NorthPointe Health and Wellness Campus in Roscoe could soon be the site of a new community hospital. On Tuesday, Beloit Health System announced plans for a 10-inpatient bed Neighborhood Hospital to help address critical care needs in the stateline and alleviate high-bed utilization at Beloit Memorial Hospital. Under the proposal, the Neighborhood Hospital would also operate a full-service emergency department and provide expanded access to primary care providers.
