Roy Wayne Elder, 66, of Trenton, MO, passed away at his daughter’s home in Gilman City, MO, on April 23, 2024. Roy was born in Bethany, Missouri, to Delbert (Tobe) and Deloris Darlene Elder on February 19, 1958. He grew up in Gilman City and graduated from Gilman City High School. Soon after graduating, he began his career at Modine Manufacturing, where he dedicated 46 years. He enjoyed hunting, and fishing, and was a faithful member of the Trenton Elk Lodge.
Early morning Highway 139 collision, west of Milan, injures driver and two teenage girls
An early morning collision on Highway 139, approximately 13.5 miles west of Milan, resulted in multiple injuries on Friday, April 26. The accident involved a 2013 Mack truck traveling west and a northbound 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 7:37 a.m. when the Mack failed to yield and struck the Jeep.
Two Seriously Injured In Trash Truck Accident Near Brimson
Two were seriously injured following a trash truck accident in Grundy County on Wednesday afternoon. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 71 year old Preston Ramsey of Trenton was driving southbound on Route CC in Grundy County when the vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign, crossed Highway 146, and went off the south side of the intersection. The Freightliner trash truck overturned and landed on its side. The driver and 34 year old Caleb Hudson of Spickard were both seriously injured in the accident. Hudson was flown to St Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City. Ramsey was flown to Truman Medical Center.

Two vehicle crash on Highway 36 near Mooresville results in injuries
A two-vehicle collision occurred on Highway 36, approximately one mile west of Mooresville, Missouri, at around 6:22 p.m. on April 24, 2024. Trenton, Princeton residents arrested by local authorities
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of two local and area residents on April 22. The Trenton Police Department apprehended Taylor Scott Groves, a 21-year-old from Trenton, for felony resisting arrest. This charge stemmed from an incident where Groves allegedly fled from police, significantly risking serious injury or death to others. Additionally, he faces misdemeanors for driving while his license was revoked or suspended—his second or third such offense—and for operating a motor vehicle recklessly. The charges also include operating a motorcycle without a valid license, failing to register a motor vehicle, and driving without maintaining the required financial responsibility for a second or subsequent time. Groves’ bond is set at $25,000, payable in cash only. His court appearance is scheduled for May 14 in the Associate Division of the Grundy County Circuit Court.
