A water transfer from a small western Arizona town to a growing East Valley community has some observers concerned. About a decade ago, a company called Greenstone bought nearly 500 acres of land in the town of Cibola, in La Paz County. But, a few years later, Greenstone sold the water rights for that farmland to Queen Creek. In the process, the company made about $14 million in profit.
Rice leads River Valley golf to win against Parker
MOHAVE VALLEY — River Valley High School’s Hunter Rice led the Dust Devils to another win on Tuesday against Parker. Nash Hanrahan, who has shot as low as a 33 this year, finished second on the team with a 43, while Kaeleb Stanely shot a 47. Zach Parker and Keagan Quinn were also in action to help River Valley win by four strokes. Next, the Dust Devils will compete in the High Desert Invitational on Friday.
MALC baseball beats Laughlin; falls against Salome
LAUGHLIN – The Mohave Accelerate Learning Center baseball team played in two games, which was highlighted by a win over Laughlin High School on Tuesday. The Patriots defeated Laughlin for the second time this season, winning 19-1. Matt Brennan had another great day, recording two triples and three RBIs. Jacek Smogoleski, who earned the win on the mound, also knocked in three, while Michael Kennedy had three RBIs. Cash Keller, Brandon Fontenot, and Vinny Garcia combined for four runs, with MALC also shining on the bath path with seven steals.
Baseball Game Preview: Kingman Bulldogs vs. Parker Broncs
Kingman is 10-0 against Parker since March of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Kingman Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Parker Broncs at 3:45 p.m. Kingman will be strutting in after a victory while Parker will be coming in after a loss.
