Water covers streets near The Strand in Galveston
HOUSTON (CW39) – After heavy rainfall from morning storms, excess water flooded the streets in Downtown Galveston. High tide does seem to have been a contributing factor. Several cars were stalled on Harborside between 12th and 17th street. Commuters began getting stranded due to the water. Emergency crews arrived later to relieve drivers and shut down roads.

383 tons of oyster shells to restore foundation of historic Galveston Bay oyster reef
GALVESTON, Texas (KIAH) – A historic oyster reef in Galveston Bay is getting a makeover. Lisa Halili, co-owner of Prestige Oysters and founder of San Leon Oyster Fest, makes history to restore Rett Reef. On April 30th, 383 tons of oyster shells will be dropping in the water as a final celebration of National Earth Month. For the five following days, Prestige Oysters and partners like the Nature Conservancy in Texas, a nonprofit working to improve the environment, along with Texas Sea Grant will lay the foundation to revive the oyster habitat.

PEARLAND, Texas – A Pearland pasture was flooded by a construction crew working on building a bridge nearby. The woman who runs the pasture off Bailey Road, near Route 35, says she had no idea the construction company building a bridge nearby was pumping thousands and thousands of gallons of water onto her field.
