Police report: More details released after man enters Galesburg High School after being denied access
GALESBURG, Ill. — More details have emerged after a man was escorted out of Galesburg Junior Senior High School last week. On Monday, April 22, 22-year-old Andre Odom allegedly followed students into the high school's main entrance when the doors were unlocked during a passing period. According to a police report obtained by News 8, Odom went to the front office and told staff he wanted to enroll in school and earn his GED.
Couple to restore historic Galesburg home to former glory
A couple is working to restore a historic Galesburg home to its former glory. The home, originally owned by W. S. Purington in the 1890’s, figures into Galesburg’s rich history. Purington was the co-owner of the Purington Brick Company in Galesburg, which was once the largest producer of brick pavers in the world, in the early 1900’s. The home has since been a designated landmark by the City of Galesburg Landmark Commission. The new owners of the historical home say they want the community to benefit from their restorations.

Galesburg football coach charged with domestic battery
GALESBURG, Ill. — Galesburg's head football coach was recently arrested on domestic battery charges, according to a police report obtained by News 8 in a records request. On Tuesday, April 23 around 7:30 p.m., Galesburg Police responded to 39-year-old Derrek Blackwell's residence after receiving a report of domestic physical violence. According to the report, the victim told police that Blackwell pushed them down. Officers say they were able to observe two injuries to the victim's face and knee.
