Health inspections: Here's how a popular Augusta wings restaurant scored a 60 out of 100
The Georgia Department of Public Health, Environmental Health Section, conducts regular restaurant inspections to help keep residents and visitors safe. The following is a list of restaurants in Richmond and Columbia counties that have been inspected between May 17 and 23, accompanied by their scores and, in some cases, the health infractions that lowered those scores.
Aiken County suspect accused of stealing car with someone inside
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Deputies responded to a disturbance involving gunfire, but the suspect stole a car with someone inside it and fled, according to authorities. It all started around 1:30 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of East Pine Log Road, where deputies were sent to investigate a disturbance with gunfire where a suspect fire shots into an unoccupied vehicle and then ran on foot, according to officials.
Inmate slain at Augusta Medical Prison; guard fired and charged
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - An inmate died Saturday in an altercation at the Augusta State Medical Prison, and a correctional officer was fired and charged in the incident. The inmate, Roderick Hayes, 29, was serving a 10-year sentence for cruelty to children out of Fulton County, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.
