'The best day of every school year': Brockton athletes shine at Special Olympics
BROCKTON - Many residents who attended the Brockton Public Schools Special Olympics on June 11 at Marciano Stadium agreed the event is the best day of every school year. The sun shined down on the Brockton High School track while roughly 500 Brockton Public School students with disabilities from every school in the district competed in multiple events from sprints and throws to the long jump. Parents grinned from the stands as they watched their kids participate in the action.
Seniors propelled Norwell High boys lacrosse into new stratosphere
WEYMOUTH — Keeping expectations in check might have been Norwell High boys lacrosse coach Josh Stolp’s toughest job while coaching this year’s seniors. The Clippers were coming off three consecutive trips to the state finals, walking away as Division 3 champs each of the last two seasons.
Major upsets: Vote for the High School Softball Player of the Week
Silver Lake Regional's Delaney Moquin has been voted the High School Softball Player of the Week. Moquin received nearly 7,000 votes to earn the honor. The junior starred in the circle and at the dish in a 12-0 win over Minnechaug in the Div. 2 Round of 32. She pitched a no-hitter with 9 strikeouts. She also helped her cause by blasting a pair of home runs and driving in 7 RBIs.

White Stadium was built in the 1940s but has been in a state of disrepair in recent years. Illustrations and video animations of a renovated and accessible White Stadium were presented by Boston Unity Soccer Partners at a design workshop meeting last week. Visuals show the park on game day as the design changes include feedback from previous meetings.

An institution in Boston sports apparel familiar to any longtime Red Sox fan has been bought by a Buffalo competitor. New Era, a maker of baseball hats, T-shirts and other apparel, has a deal to buy ‘47, a brand known for most of its history as Twins Enterprise. The company will keep its local headquarters in Westwood, New Era said in announcing the planned deal last week.

Harbormen Move Past Mansfield to the Final Four
In the last home game of the season the Harboromen took care of business relatively easily against Mansfield on Saturday 9-3. The win made them the third Hingham High School team of the weekend to make the Final Four. Senior Rocco Egan, who was just named an USA Lacrosse All-American along with senior captain Nate Hoffman, was phenomial again winning face-offs. Senior captain Michael Garrity continues to put the ball in the net with three more goals. Junior Owen Packard extends his playoff scoring streak with three of his own. Sophomores Chase Beighley with two and Cam McKenna with one rounded out the scoring. Defense and Hoffman’s goaltending was again the difference in the game.

Archbishop Williams High's Avery Valicenti and Clare O'Keefe have been voted the High School Girls Lacrosse Players of the Week. The duo combined to receive over 17,000 votes to earn the honor. In a 19-5 win over Nashoba Valley Tech in the Div. 3 preliminary round, O'Keefe had 7 goals and 3 assists while Valicenti had 6 goals and 3 assists.
