Austin police identified a 27-year-old man who was shot and killed in his apartment last week in North Austin. Police found Isaac Jimenez dead in his apartment at the Canyon Ridge Apartments on May 9, an Austin Police Department news release said. Officers responded to calls of a shooting a little before 8:10 p.m. About 20 minutes later, Jimenez was pronounced dead. Police said Jimenez was killed "during a disturbance" but did not provide any other details.

Austin Police Department officers responded around 2:20 a.m. to reports of shots fired at a Waffle House located at 8800 East US-290 Highway. AUSTIN, Texas — Five people were taken to the hospital after a crash involving a semi-truck and multiple other vehicles on I-35 south of Lady Bird Lake Friday morning. Austin-Travis County EMS said it happened in the northbound lane just before 11 a.m. Fourteen people were involved, but five were not injured and four others refused transport.
Francisco Lopez found guilty, sentenced to 28 years for 2019 murder in South Austin
A Travis County jury found Francisco Lopez Jr., 36, guilty of murder on Thursday and sentenced him to 28 years in prison for the 2019 death of Guillermo Bernal Gomez, 32. In the early hours of June 23, 2019, a 911 caller reported a man "slumped over" with blood on his arms in a South Austin apartment complex. When officers responded, they found Gomez dead with multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators eventually discovered that Gomez had been with Lopez and a man named Evan Zanders shortly before his death.
