Texarkana Memorial Day ceremony honors women who died for our country
Texarkana schools receive $11 million in program funding
TEXARKANA, Ark. (KTAL/KMSS) – A grant totaling $11,457,355 was awarded to the Texarkana Arkansas School District to help students at local magnet schools. The Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) grant will provide funding over the next five years for the TASD “Legacy Project,” helping students and families impacted by COVID-19. TASD officials developed the project over the last three years to help struggling students stay connected to their learning. It also provides support for families in helping their children close educational gaps.
Dr. Lisa Myers is Leading the Way in Texarkana USA
Nominated by Jennifer Davis, of TAMUT, Dr. Lisa Myers was honored with Leadership Texarkana’s 2024 Wilbur Award for and Adult for her Exemplary Community Leadership. Lisa’s exceptional leadership has made a significant impact throughout her educational journey as a dedicated lifelong learner. Her influence has been evident both as a K-12 classroom teacher and now as university professor, where her efforts have elevated the standard of adult education in our community through the BAAS program at TAMUT. Renowned for its emphasis on practical learning experiences worthy of college credit, Lisa has produced numerous graduates. Currently spearheading the establishment of TAMUT’s new school of Professional Education and Community Engagement, Lisa’s work will undoubtedly continue to bring about transformative change within our community.
