Livonia residents building back after severe weather
Livonia - Generators buzzed in Livonia on Tuesday as residents, neighbors and friends cleaned up damage and debris from Monday night’s storm. A month after heavy storms and tornadoes swept through southern Louisiana, Pointe Coupee Parish faced another round of heavy winds. This time the storm knocked down trees, powerlines, and blew roofs off of homes.

Zachary Police searching for man who stole $300 in merchandise from Home Depot
ZACHARY — The Zachary Police Department is searching for a man who stole $300 worth of merchandise from a Home Depot. Police released a surveillance picture of the man, who was wearing basketball shorts, a hoodie and a hat. He appears to be carrying a box with a DeWalt tool in it and a Home Depot branded bucket.
Survey confirms one tornado, widespread straight-line winds in Capital Area during Monday night storms
LIVONIA - A National Weather Service (NWS) survey team determined an EF-0 tornado, estimated to have peak winds of around 85mph caused damage across portions of southern Pointe Coupee Parish. This tornado began just north of Thorpe Road along LA-78 around 6:43pm and moved north-northeast causing scattered tree and powerline damage as well as some structural damage to a few rooftops and aluminum buildings. The tornado concluded at 6:45pm further up LA-78 after about 1 mile on the ground.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Over in Livonia, a small town over in Point Coupee Parish, folks on Lejeune Road recalled how scary things got when Monday’s storm rolled through. “Around 7:00 we got on the phone from the National Weather Service that there was a tornado warning and then five minutes within that one there was a second one. And then after that all heck broke loose,” said Berthelot, a homeowner on Lejeune Road. “When you looked outside there were limbs flying everywhere, you couldn’t see because the rain was so heavy blowing on, and we had limbs falling over the trailer onto the road.”

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Overnight storms are causing power outages in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas on Friday, May 17. Entergy’s outage map reports over 5,600 customers in East Baton Rouge Parish are without power. Other areas experiencing power outages are: Ascension Parish 721, Assumption Parish 1030, Iberville Parish 482, Pointe Coupee Parish 811, Livingston Parish 3373, and West Baton Rouge Parish 528.

The National Weather Service confirms that multiple tornados touched down in Louisiana this week as part of a deadly storm system. One plowed through the tiny town of Livonia, northwest of Baton Rouge. It was on the ground for about the length of a football field and has been classified as an EF-0.
