Couple charged with child neglect
A North Matewan couple were arrested earlier this week on child neglect charges. According to Mingo Magistrate Court documents, on May 13, officers went to the residence of Curtis Andrew Meade, 24, and Katie Jo Meade, 23, after receiving a mandated call from a STAT EMS worker, who court documents said had been dispatched to the residence, reporting on the living conditions inside the home.

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. (WCHS) — A mother and daughter accused in a child and animal neglect investigation in Mingo County appeared in court Thursday. Sharon Simpson, 63, and Christi Hatfield, 37, both of Williamson were arrested May 7 at an apartment building on West 4th Avenue. State officials announced May 8 that they have absolved the county of a $1 million debt obligation on the Twin Branch Drag Strip property. Originally pledged to the county as a grant by former Gov.
