New pickleball courts planned in Groton
Groton ― Pickleball courts will be built this summer on land between the Thrive 55+ Active Living Center and the Groton Public Library on Newtown Road. The Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved the site plan on Tuesday for six pickleball courts in the lawn area near the existing roller hockey rink and the youth multi-use field.

Ponaganset softball team suffers first loss, hosts Westerly today in battle for first place
GLOCESTER – The top of the Division II high school softball standings got a bit tighter on Monday night. Ponaganset, which joined Westerly atop the division with undefeated records, came back from its longest bus ride of the spring with its first loss, a 7-3 defeat to Portsmouth that saw the Patriots score twice in the bottom of the first and third innings and hold on the rest of the way for their fifth straight victory.
