    Police Identify Edison Resident Killed in Early Morning Accident on Route 1

    EDISON, NJ - Police have identified the Edison resident who was killed in an early morning accident on Route 1. Raul Montoya-Chavez, age 22, was hit by an SUV while riding on an electric scooter on Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

    Police say the accident occurred at 1:46 AM on Route 1 South at the intersection of Plainfield Avenue. Montoya-Chavez was crossing when he was hit by an SUV being driven by a 61-year-old man from Rahway who was heading to work, according to police.

    Montoya-Chavez was transferred to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and was pronounced dead. Edison Police Deputy Chief Robert Dudash said the driver had a green light, and they do not suspect any wrongdoing.
