The Denver Nuggets have advanced to the Western Conference semifinals for a second straight season after defeating LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the West playoffs in five games.

On Monday night, Denver closed out the first-round series with 108-106 victory.

The Nuggets, however, are currently taking some heat from NBA fans over how the celebrated the series win.

Specifically, many found it odd that Denver chose to drop confetti after simply making it through the first round.

"I KNOW the Nuggets aren’t dropping confetti for a first round win," Zach tweeted.

It's not just Lakers fans mocking Denver over the surprising celebration - Nuggets fans are chiming in, too.

"Im happy & I love the nuggets. But dropping confetti after a round 1 victory is weak sauce. We are a championship team now, let’s act like we been here before," a Nuggets fan wrote.

"Nuggets getting rightfully cooked for dropping confetti after winning a R1 series. Makes it even worse that they’re defending champs," another fan said.

Other fans are pointing out that the post-series confetti drop is a usual occurrence for Denver.

"I thought the same, but apparently they did it when they clinched the first series last year. At least staying consistent," another fan added.
