22-acre mixed use construction project approved in Salinas
SALINAS, Calif. — The Salinas City Council voted unanimously to the construction to turn a 22-acre vacant lot into a mixed-use development. The lot is located at the corner of Abbott and John Streets. Plans include building a four-story, 111-room hotel, 242 residential units, and office and retail space.

There is city-owned affordable housing at Abrams Park and Preston Park, set off from the central core, and Cypress Knolls, a 188-acre ghost neighborhood with about 400 dilapidated homes near Marina High School. Another new development, Marina Station, is expected to break ground later this year.
