Louisiana attorney suspended from practicing after claiming he was a god-king
A Louisiana lawyer has been suspended from practicing law for a year after he reportedly styled himself as a god-king. On May 29, the Louisiana Supreme Court suspended Baton Rouge Attorney Edward Moses, Jr. after he asserted himself as the Christian Emperor d’Orleans Trust protector of the Atakapa Indian ‘Tribe of Moses’ Express Spendthrift Trust.
New indoor playground for kids to open in Baton Rouge this summer
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Chee Chee’s Playroom will be opening a second location in Baton Rouge this summer. The indoor playground features a ton of activities for kids including being able to climb around in the indoor playground, build a castle with huge blocks, ride around on the mini track or create artwork, according to their Facebook page.
Overnight storms cause tree to fall on house and car, knocking down power line
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Overnight storms caused a tree limb to fall on a house and a car in Baton Rouge early Friday morning, knocking down a power line. The Baton Rouge Fire Department confirmed the tree fell around 4 a.m. Officials said crews were called to the scene in the 2700 block of Tecumseh Street near Chippewa Street around 7:45 a.m.
Baton Rouge columnist Smiley Anders dies at 86
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Baton Rouge resident and longtime columnist for The Advocate has died at the age of 86, according to the local newspaper. The Advocate reported Smiley Anders’ death Friday, May 31, remembering his over 50 years of work at the newspaper. His last column was posted online on Monday, May 27.
Baton Rouge teens get summer jobs in mayor’s program
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An initiative aimed at getting teens to stay busy during the summer break by helping them find jobs had its Match Day on Thursday, May 30. Over 200 youth were at Baton Rouge Community College’s gymnasium to get matched with sponsoring host sites in the Mayor’s Youth Workforce Experience.
