Cement truck slams into 6 cars west of Zephyrhills: FHP

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. (WFLA) — A 79-year-old man was critically injured when a cement truck caused a six-car pile-up on Eiland Boulevard, just west of Ryals Road in the Zephyrhills area Monday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident began when a cement truck failed to stop at a traffic light and collided into the back of a pickup truck, which was pushed forward into four other vehicles.

Troopers said the pickup then burst into flames, causing critical injuries to the 79-year-old driver from Lapeer, Michigan.

According to a crash report, the driver of the cement truck, a 28-year-old Spring Hill man, suffered serious injuries. Two others suffered serious injuries and two more suffered minor injuries, including a 1-year-old boy from Zephyrhills.
