It’s been one helluva winter.Mammoth is about to break its all-time record for snowfall. Roofs are collapsing in South Lake Tahoe. For the first time in my life, I’m almost, almost, wanting to ski something other than powder. And with all the snow, California resorts across the board are extending ski seasons, some saying they’ll be open well into the summer.

This was the beginning of a long drive home from Virginia City to Novato. It took us 10 hours to get home. I filmed this footage going West on highway 50 towards South Lake Tahoe.

Incline Village is a small town on Lake Tahoe in Nevada. Less than 9,000 people consider Incline Village home. However, it is one of the wealthiest towns in Nevada. Even tho most everything is close there are still some interesting things to see. In this video, join me as I take on the treacherous Highway 50 in Lake Tahoe during a snowstorm. Buckle up and prepare for a nerve-wracking ride that will have you on the edge of your seat! As we begin our journey, the snowfall is already heavy and visibility is poor. The road is slick and I have to be extremely careful to avoid skidding or losing control of the vehicle. The snowplows have been working hard, but the road conditions are still treacherous. As we ascend into the mountains, the snow only gets heavier and the wind picks up, making it even more challenging to stay on the road. I have to reduce my speed significantly and keep a safe distance from other vehicles, which are barely visible through the thick snow.

The National Weather Service in Reno, NV, has issued a winter weather advisory for the Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden Area until 10 AM PST Sunday, March 5, 2023. The advisory warns of snowfall and gusting winds, making travel in the area difficult.

On Wednesday afternoon at Heavenly Ski Resort in South Lake Tahoe, a snowboarder sadly perished in an on-mountain incident. The event at 3 p.m. was confirmed by the resort's operator, Vail Resorts.

The recent blizzard has caused record-breaking levels of snowfall, with some areas reporting over 50 inches in just two days. Despite the dangerous conditions, some drivers still seem confused about the road's status. Officials from the CHP and sheriff's offices in the Tahoe Basin have directly warned drivers, advising them to stay home and avoid driving altogether.
