YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The search for the 20-year-old man who went missing since Monday is over.

In an updated press release by the Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO), 20-year-old Brian Vasquez of Yuma was found dead near the area of Cocopah Bend RV Park.

YCSO said that a kayaker in the area called them to let them know that the kayaker saw Vasquez's body east of the RV park.

Local agencies involved in the search responded as well as the Medical Examiner. YCSO said they notified the next of kin.

Christian Ruiz, Brian’s step father says he was “always kind and willing to give the shirt off his back to help out others.”

Remembering Brian through memories is now what family and friends will have.

Brian's former teacher Heather Holiman echoes how many people felt about him “he was kind of a bright light in our classroom.”

The search for Brian was a multi- agency effort including Border Patrol, The Yuma Fire Department and the Customs and Border Protection air unit.
