Northwest Swell Says 'Hello' to SoCal; It's Fun!
Photography by Jeremiah Klein, Michael Weybret, Dom Stone, Julia Dinerman, Andy Bowlin, and Nick Liotta. Southern California was never going to get giant from the North Pacific behemoth that steamrolled Hawaii and NorCal last weekend. Big storm, yeah, strong winds, too — but it was just too far away and too north to require anyone Santa Barbara-south to unsheathe their stepups. But, if we’re being honest, most of us would much rather gape in shock and awe at waves like Waimea Bay or big Ocean Beach than actually attempt to ride the places. Which is kinda why we went a little crazy covering the multiple dramatic sessions that went down. Impossible to look away from that stuff. (Especially from the safety of a screen.)
