FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Around 1,700 were left without power Friday morning after a car crashed into a power pole in Fresno.

The crash took place at around 4:30 a.m. in the area of Cedar Avenue and Shields Avenue. Pictures from the scene show at least one power pole sheared off and crews working to remove and replace the damaged pole. At least three cranes were used to complete the repair.

Power has since been restored for the majority of impacted customers; PG&E says the remaining customers will have power restored Friday afternoon.

Fresno Police has not released any further information about the driver involved in the crash.
