    IDENTIFIED: Woman killed in Reedley crosswalk collision

    REEDLEY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – The 77-year-old who died after being hit by a vehicle in a crosswalk in Reedley has been identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday.

    The Coroner’s Office identified the woman as Juanita Ayala, 77, of Reedley.

    Officers with the Reedley Police Department say they responded to a traffic collision at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of 10th and G streets in Reedley involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

    According to police, Ayala was crossing the street in a crosswalk and sustained substantial injuries in the incident. She was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, but despite life-saving measures, she ended up succumbing to her injuries.

    Investigators say the driver remained on the scene. There is no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.

    This is an ongoing investigation.
