Man dead after struck by vehicle in Tulare, police say

TULARE, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A 75-year-old man who was lying in a roadway is dead after being hit by a vehicle in Tulare Tuesday night, according to the Tulare Police Department.

Police say around 7:45 p.m. they responded to the 900 block of Blackstone Street. When officers arrived they found the 75-year-old man on the road who later died after medical personnel began life-saving measures.

Investigators say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. Officers say the driver of the vehicle was traveling southbound on Blackstone Avenue and struck the pedestrian who was already lying in the roadway.

There is no indication that alcohol was a factor in this incident based on the investigation and witness statements.

Police say it is unknown why the man was lying in the roadway at the time of the collision.
