John Oramas was booked into the Mahoning County Jail on a charge of breaking and entering. He was found just after 11 p.m. inside 200 E. Wood St. by officers checking an alarm call.

During his arraignment Wednesday, bond was set at $5,000, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 8.

Reports said when police pulled up, they found an unlocked front door and Oramas sitting at a bench in the dark in the cafeteria with whipped cream on his hands and lips and various items of food around him.

Reports said when police asked Oramas why he was there, he said he was “just taking a break.”

Police viewed video footage and saw Oramas take the food out of the kitchen, reports said.

Mike Saville, director of Choffin Career & Technical Center, issued the following statement on Wednesday:

We can confirm there was a break-in that occurred Tuesday night affecting our Culinary Arts Kitchen, where a suspect was apprehended by authorities. There was no damage to our facilities, and no one was harmed. Choffin is cooperating with law enforcement and is grateful for their prompt action.
