This Affordable California Town Is So Charming It’s Hard To Believe More People Don’t Know About It
The tap water in one tiny mountain town carries its own official bragging rights. Locals call their hometown the Home of the Best Water on Earth, and they mean it. That water starts as snowmelt on a famous volcano. It filters through layers of lava rock before it ever reaches a kitchen sink. I appreciate a town that turns its plumbing into a point of pride.

Homeowners battle Redding over flood ditch costs
Residents of a Redding neighborhood want the city to include in its winter storm preparations the cost of clearing and maintaining the Henderson Ditch, while city officials maintain the drainage is on private property and is the landowners' responsibility. Redding's new grass rule could cost property owners big
Redding's City Council voted 4-to-1 to update city code in compliance with a state law that restricts the use of drinking water to irrigate ornamental grass at certain businesses, institutions, and homeowners associations. Local leaders say the requirement could put an unnecessary financial burden on property owners, even as the city says it will focus on education and assistance as the new rules take effect.
