Yakima Police aren't seeing any driver changes from week to week when it comes to people not stopping for red lights if you look at the latest numbers. Every Tuesday is Traffic Tuesday when the Yakima Police Department posts numbers of the week of traffic enforcement.

THE NUMBERS HAVE REMAINED CONSISTENT SINCE PATROLS STARTED

During the week of March 12 through March 18 officers made 767 traffic stops and issued 274 citations. The officers also investigated 23 collisions, 16 the result of a driver not stopping for a red light. Compare those numbers with the week of March 5 through March 11. During that week police made 857 stops and issued 358 citations. Officers investigated 32 collisions , 18 the result of a driver running a red light.
The traffic enforcement continues in the city into the spring and summer months when Officers expect the numbers to increase not decrease.

A CRASH IN THE CITY ON MONDAY LEFT A WOMAN IN CRITICAL CONDITION

A crash Monday at the intersection of 72nd and and Zier Road left a driver in critical condition. Police say a 19-year-old woman driving a Toyota sedan eastbound on Zier Road preparing to turn left onto 72nd Avenue when a 27-year-old man drove into the intersection causing a crash. Authorities say the 19-year-old driver had life threatening injuries and was in critical condition when taken to a Yakima hospital. The other driver had only minor injuries. The crash is under investigation.

A WOMAN WAS ABLE TO AVOID BEING INJURED IN A CRASH ON TUESDAY

In the photo above from the Washington State Patrol Troopers say a woman was driving westbound on I-82 west of the Toppenish exit on Tuesday when her car "started not driving right" and she lost her brakes. She was able to drive to the side of the road and jump out before the vehicle went down an embankment.
