Photos by David Broyles Carroll County Public Schools Transportation Director David Kinzer (left) presents Roger Royal with a certificate recognizing him as March Employee of the Month during the April 9 regular school board meeting. Nominations were collected through an online Google form found on the CCPS Internet Website as well as CCPS Facebook page. The Leadership Team reviewed and selected Royal, who serves as a Bus Driver for Carroll County Public Schools for the honor. In addition to receiving a certificate, Member of the Month will be presented a gift certificate sponsored by the Carroll County Dance Center.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — WVU Medicine says it plans to invest $400 million in capital improvement projects that will stretch from Morgantown to Bluefield. “It is $400 million in new capital projects over the coming years in different sites around WVU Medicine,” WVU Medicine President and CEO Albert Wright said on MetroNews “Talkline” Thursday.

OneOfUs.Care Founder Jerry Carter (left) is presented a certificate of recognition during the School Board’s April 9 meeting for the support of the group for Carroll County Public Schools. Carter and his wife, Linda, retired to Carroll County and started the nonprofit OneofUs.Care. The nonprofit’s goal is to make the world a better place by being nicer to one another, lend your skills to benefit others whenever you can, and find ways to barter in the community to build needed things. The nonprofit has also created “The Carroll County Sports Report,” which is a way for all students at CCPS to be recognized by their coach or sponsor on a daily basis. Jerry has volunteered over 1,500 hours to cover not only athletics but any student who represents CCHS, including MACC, band, chorus, and many others.

Summer Stage gears up for sixth season, accepting applications
Leapin’ Lizards! Summer Stage is now accepting enrollment applications for their sixth season which runs June 24-July 20 at the Gladeville School Auditorium. Mower rider critically hurt when mower flips
GALAX, Va. (WDBJ) - One person was taken to a hospital in critical condition after a lawnmower flipped, according to Galax Fire. Friday afternoon, Galax Fire and Pipers Gap Rescue Squad were called to the 200 block of Knollwood Lane, where one person was pinned under a mower that had flipped. The person was removed and life-saving measures were initiated.
