WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Wythe County Sheriff’s Office says a person has passed away and two people were injured in a fire that occurred on Sunday morning.

Around 9 a.m. on March 19, emergency responders received a call in regard to a house fire on the 300 block of Brower Lane. Several firefighters and officers including Virginia State Police responded to the scene to assist. At the scene, crews learned that three people were able to escape the blaze, but were informed that a 16-year-old male was unaccounted for.

Once the fire was under control, crews were able to begin their search of the home and discovered a body they believe belongs to the unaccounted-for 16-year-old, Daniel Busha. Official identification results are pending from the Roanoke Medical Examiners’ Office.

Additionally, a 17-year-old woman was treated for lacerations she sustained from a glass window during the escape. An adult is being treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Virginia State Place is investigating the fire.
