WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Brett Michael Atnip, 31, of Hanover, WV, was sentenced to six months for Driving with a Revoked License and one to five years for Conspiracy to Commit a Felony on April 25, 2024. He pleaded guilty to both charges on March 11, 2024.

On February 6, 2024, Sgt. L.M. Cook and Deputy H. Walker with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department were on road patrol when they observed a motor vehicle with a defective brake light. During the traffic stop, the deputies identified the driver as Brett Atnip and observed drug paraphernalia within the vehicle. Atnip indicated that he did not have a valid driver’s license. The subsequent investigation led to the recovery of suspected illegal substances and paraphernalia consistent with drug distribution.

Gregory Bishop is the Wyoming County Prosecutor.
“I can’t praise our police officers enough.”
said Bishop, “Their initiative-taking approach to police work very likely foiled criminal
    behavior in this instance.”

Assistant Prosecutor Derek Laxton, Wyoming County served as lead prosecutor in the case.
Sgt. L.M. Cook and Deputy H. Walker of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department investigated the crime.

Bishop wished to thank the hard and thorough work of Assistant Prosecutor, Derek Laxton, and
the entire prosecutor staff along with Sgt. L.M. Cook, Deputy H. Walker, and the Wyoming
    County Sheriff’s Department.
