Multiple people arrested after search warrants were carried out in McDowell County

MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (WVNS) — Five people were arrested after search warrants were carried out in McDowell County.

According to a press release, members of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office and the Southern Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force carried out search warrants in the Sandy Huff area of McDowell County at around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 2024.

Once the search warrants were carried out, five arrests were made by members of law enforcement. The press release stated that the people arrested included:

• Steven Coleman: Drug Delivery Resulting in Death
• James Coleman: Unlawful Possession
• Amy Gibson: Capias for Unlawful Possession
• Racheal Gibson: Unlawful possession of Meth and Unlawful Possession of MDMA
• Cynthia Payne: No Seat Belt, Driving Suspended, and Possession of Heroin

In addition to the arrests, an amount of illegal drugs, as well as U.S. currency, were seized by law enforcement.

The press release stated that all five people are waiting for arraignment and for bond to be set.
