Wheeling, W.Va. (WTRF-TV) Many counties in the Ohio Valley are dealing with extreme to exceptional drought conditions.

Things have gone from bad to worse with little rainfall, but thanks to the Small Business Administration (SBA), Federal Economic Injury Disaster loans will now be available in West Virginia.

The loans will be for small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in agriculture, and most private nonprofits that suffered economic losses from the drought.

“Applicants must have a credit history that’s acceptable to the SBA. So, we don’t look at credit score we look at credit history, and we also look at the ability to repay. Once they get the funds from us, they can use them in any way they see fit to help them recover.”

Jim Accurso – Public Affairs Specialist, SBA (Small Business Administration)

The loans will be paid back over a 15- or 30-year period with a four percent interest rate; however, the first year’s interest will be deferred.

The maximum loan limit is 2 million dollars, but the amount received will be determined by the application.

The deadline to apply is April 28, 2025, and you can apply online by following the link: MySBA Loan Portal
