JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A DuBois man is in jail after he allegedly tried to shoot at another man in Reynoldsville.

William Donnelly, 42, is facing attempted murder charges after police said they were called to the Ridge Wood Green Apartments for a report of shots being fired, according to the criminal complaint. On Sept. 6, Pennsylvania State Police were called to a parking lot near the apartments after a person reported hearing gunshots.

Troopers arrived on scene and found a spent casing and broken glass and they spoke with the person who reported the shots. The woman told officers that she had video surveillance of the incident. Officers reviewed the footage and saw a black SUV drive through the parking lot and out of sight before they could hear yelling and two gunshots. The SUV then drove back through the parking lot at a high rate of speed with a broken window. Three men chased after the car on foot, according to the affidavit.

On Sept. 7 officers determined the owner of the SUV through an interview. They went to his residence where they found the SUV and seized it. The owner of the vehicle was interviewed and admitted that he was dropping off a man at that address when three men, including Donnelly, ran towards their car. The man alleged that Donnelly fired two shots at them, one of which struck his SUV below the front passenger window. The man added that he fled as fast as he could to avoid injury.

On Sept. 9, troopers interviewed the man that the owner of the vehicle dropped off. He told officers that when he got into the car multiple people, including Donnelly, ran toward the car. Donnelly then allegedly attempted to open the car door before he fired two shots. The man told police that Donnelly had fired the shots at him and that one struck just below the window before they fled the scene. The victim believed that Donnelly was attempting to kill him, according to the complaint.

Donnelly is in the Jefferson County Prison with bail denied as he is an “extreme danger to victim and society,” according to court documents. He is facing a charge of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and two charges of simple assault.
