Tybee Island Ocean Rescue gives end of season report

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV) – Tybee Island Ocean Rescue (TIOR) said they have had an incredible, but busy season with advisements going up by almost 24,000.

The 2024 Ocean Rescue End of Season Report is as follows:

Advisements – 34,717

Water Assists – 43

Water Rescues – 28

Lost Persons – 25

Medical’s That Required EMS Transport – 22

Fatal Drowning Incidents – 2

TIOR says lifeguards will continue to provide coverage on weekends for their residents, visitors, and all Tybee Island beach lovers. Beach goers should expect to see lifeguards patrolling the beach on Saturdays and Sundays throughout October.
