WALTERBORO, S.C. (WSAV) – The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said a man doing yard work on Tuesday was shot, and now they are asking for aid in identifying those involved.

According to CCSO, deputies were dispatched to the gunshot victim on Cleveland St. in Walterboro. The adult male victim was doing yard work and operating a weed eater when he was struck by gunfire.

Witnesses say before the shooting, two unknown juvenile black males had briefly spoken with the male doing lawn work and as they continued walking down the street, the shots rang out.

Two unknown-possibly juvenile-black males, authorities say, were observed firing guns toward the two intended victims walking down the street, when the victim working in the yard was struck.

The two suspects and two intended victims then fled the area prior to law enforcement being called CCSO said.

Deputies searched the area with K9 Deputies and the suspects were not located after they were likely picked up in a vehicle.

Residents in the areas of Cleveland St., Red Comet, and King St. are being asked by the CCSO to review their surveillance cameras to aid in identifying those involved.

The CCSO says the victim remains in stable condition.
