Nathan Bronk has been composting for as long as he can remember. “I swear we have had the same cut-off milk jug at my parents’ house like since I was born,” he said. Prep Softball: Superior, Proctor Deliver Shutouts
SUPERIOR, Wis.- Two of the hottest softball teams in the area started the week off with home shutout victories on Monday. Superior scored 17 runs in the first two innings to defeat Carlton-Wrenshall 18-0 in four innings. The Spartans’ final run came on a solo home run from Paige R. Johnson in the third inning. Superior (4-1) will stay at home this Thursday for a home outing against Cloquet.

Stephanie Irwin captured one of the sunrise on Tuesday, April 16, with the caption “Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning.” And it proved true with gale-force winds later that day. Monday, volunteers helped out the Duluth rose society and the Duluth Parks and Recreation Department with the raising of the roses. The process follows the Minnesota tipping method. Duluth, Minn.- Zeitgeist is hosting its first-ever summer acting camp. At Midsummer Night’s Dream Teen Acting Camp participants will learn about acting basics and performance experience. The camp will include auditions, playwriting, on-stage scenarios and more. The camp is open for teens ages 12 to 18 and will be held from August 5-9. Performances will be August 16-18 at Hartley Nature Center. Registration is now open.

WEATHER STORY: A wall of high air pressure rolled over our region on Sunday to bring us a mostly sunny sky. On Monday, though, the high will roll eastward and a low will take over for a different flavor of weather. Monday will become overcast and there will be a chance for rain. Follow-up rain may fall through Tuesday. After that, dry and near normal temperatures will take over much of the week ahead. But by next weekend, rain could return.
Portions of Third Street in Duluth to be closed Monday for reconditioning project
Portions of Third Street in Downtown Duluth will be closed Monday, April 22 due to a reconditioning project. The right lane of Third Street will be closed from 12th Avenue E. to Mesaba Avenue to allow for work on the upper side of the road. Intersections with the avenues may be closed as well to help complete the work.
