HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -The stormy month of May reared its ugly head again on Wednesday when a potent but narrow line of storms crossed along and north of I-64. These storms packed an impressive arsenal of weapons Like a 6-shooter, where the storms hit hard they mustered torrents of rain, street flooding, ground whitening hail showers, high winds which felled trees and cut power to many, flashes of lightning and cannon shots of thunder.
P’Town Float ready for June 2
As warmer weather shapes up, and the waters of rivers, lakes, and streams surrounding the greater Portsmouth area lose their winter and spring frigidity, organizations are readying the public to get their paddles back out and launch in canoes and kayaks once again. One of the biggest events of the early summer, when it comes to water sports, the P’Town Float, is ready to welcome guests for the second year come June 2.

Storm pattern off to a rough and rowdy start
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -The long holiday weekend ahead has been ticketed for heavy weather for more than a week. That expected siege of showers and thundersqualls started on Wednesday afternoon when a line of thundershowers arrived from Cincinnati and grew upscale into thunderstorms. But typical of this spring, those storms quickly blossomed into squalls characterized by torrents of rain( with local street flooding), damaging winds (trees down, power outs) and pelting hail (no doubt some shingle damage and even some dent car hoods). At its peak, doppler radar estimated the winds near 60 miles per hour and hailstones the size of marbles. Of course the storms were highly selective in their targets!
