There were plenty of great performances on the softball field last week, and the Telegram & Gazette found some of the best for readers to vote on to decide the Hometeam Softball Player of the Week.
Congratulations to Wachusett's Isabel Moreno, who took the top spot in last week's poll , recording 1,071 votes (24.5 percent) to top Tantasqua's Jewels Normandin (783 votes) for the honor.
Player of the week nominations are selected by reporters based on coaches reporting game results into the Telegram & Gazette sports department and game coverage from the T&G sports department staff. Izzy Brissette, Tahanto
Brissette doubled and drove in three runs as the Stags rolled over Murdock and also had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and three RBIs in a win over Narragansett.
Zoe Chila, West Boylston
Chila drove in the winning run in the seventh to send the Lions past Millbury on Thursday.
Tatum Giggey, Leicester
Giggey drove in four runs on three hits and also fanned seven in four innings of relief as the Wolverines topped Quaboag.
Bella Mara, St. Paul
Mara helped the Knights rebound from a loss to Wachusett by homering and fanning 16 while hurling a one-hitter in a win over Doherty and followed that up with a two-homer game in a win over Tantasqua on Friday.
Francie McMahon, Doherty
McMahon fanned 14 and was 3 for 4 with a triple and five RBIs to boost the Highlanders over Grafton on Friday.
Adyson O'Leary, Worcester Tech
O'Leary fanned 15 and singled twice as the Eagles topped Bartlett on Thursday.
Megan O'Leary, Assabet
O'Leary was 4 for 4 with a grand slam and six RBIs to help the Aztecs top Burncoat last Tuesday.
Katherine Pratt, Uxbridge
Pratt fanned 14 in a one-hit and also added three hits, including a homer, and five RBIs in a win over Southbridge.
Hannah Reardon, Nashoba
Reardon struck out 13 as the Wolves cruised past North Middlesex.
Janelle Scirocco, Nipmuc
Scirocco fanned nine and drove in four runs on three hits in a win over Douglas, and also was 4 for 5 with a double and four RBIs to send the Warriors past Auburn.
Gabby Sweeney, Ayer-Shirley
Sweeney homered twice and drove in four runs as the Panthers edged Maynard on Friday.
Taylor Stuart, Wachusett
Stuart fanned 12 an limited a dangerous St. Paul lineup to just two runs in a 6-2 win last Monday, then followed it up with 3⅓ innings of scoreless relief last Tuesday to boost the Mountaineers past Hudson.
Eliana Vazquez, Clinton
Vazquez was 4 for 5 to power the Gaels past Quabbin
Guilamina Yost, AMSA
Yost homered to left with two outs in the bottom of the seventh as the Eagles walked off a win over Uxbridge on Friday.
