WORCESTER — Central Massachusetts residents 55 and older will be able to get some free dental services at Quinsigamond Community College's dental clinic until the end of the current semester May 2.

While the clinic has provided low-cost services to seniors over the years, some will now come at no cost due to a partnership between Quinsigamond Community College and the Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging, a group focused on providing information and resources to senior citizens.

Who is eligible?

Those interested in receiving the services must be 55 and older and a resident of Central Massachusetts.

What services are included?

The service covers a complete assessment, necessary X-rays, dental cleaning, fluoride treatment and oral care instructions.

Who will be providing the services?

While students provide the patients their treatments, they are under the guidance of the instructors who are all seasoned dental hygienists.

How long are the appointments?

Patients are expected to come for three appointments or until their treatment has been completed. Each appointment is approximately three and a half hours long, due to students having to stop and have their work checked by hygienists frequently.

How do I make an appointment?

The dental clinic can be reached by phone at (508) 854-4306. If no one answers, the caller can leave a message and a receptionist will get back to them.

How long do I have to make an appointment?

There are openings that the clinic is trying to fill, but they may be unable to accommodate everyone.

The clinic only runs during the academic year, meaning that they will stop seeing patients May 2. However, the free services will continue to be provided when the clinic begins running again in September.

The clinic will also be able to expand the number of patients they take due to increased student enrollment for fall 2023.
