Davey Jones Tackle Locker casts a wider net for Fairhaven anglers
FAIRHAVEN — What started as Bounty Hunter Outfitters is now Davey Jones Tackle Locker, a rebranding that aims to broaden inventory, services and serve fishermen beyond the traditional summer season, which the town of Fairhaven desperately needed. Capt. Eric Morrow, who also owns Bounty Hunter Charters, has operated Bounty Hunter fishing boats for roughly 25 years. His passenger fishing boats run out of Union Wharf in Fairhaven, and his business also offers shark cage diving. “We needed a home office, and then the town definitely needed a well-stocked tackle shop,” said Morrow. Now, he is fine-tuning the business around what local anglers actually use, whether they are casting into a neighborhood pond or heading offshore in search of tuna. Great for every experience level Although Morrow’s background is in professional fishing operations, he said that the shop is not just for experienced anglers, but also customers include first-timers, high school students and seasoned fishermen. “We can gear everybody up from fishing on a little pond behind a park right up to going tuna fishing,” he said. Affordability is also part of that approach. For equipment such as rods and reels, Morrow said he aims to offer three price levels: entry-level,

Providence accuses developer of 'scamming' city using affordable housing law
The Rhode Island Supreme Court heard fiery arguments this week in a case where the Providence City Council is seeking to intervene in a tax deal made by the administration of former Providence mayor Jorge Elorza affecting 10 downtown Providence properties owned by Cornish Associates, the real estate firm of Arnold "Buff" Chace. "This was an unlawful scam that was perpetrated on the Superior Court and the City of Providence," rang the accusation from Max Wistow, the attorney who argued on behalf of the City Council. According to Wistow, previous administration officials knowingly superseded their authority to broker a tax deal that, he claimed, violated tax stabilization agreements that the council had already passed on some of these properties. Lawyers for the 10 real estate properties fired back that the City Council's claims "sought to weaponize" ordinary civil functions in City Hall, that the council was on "a fishing expedition," that the case was "wildly outside" the strictures of timeliness when it was originally filed, and that the council had no standing to oversee, much less challenge, a tax agreement that it was not a party to. In short : After years of court arguments and appeals, attorneys in the
