The Cynthia Ann Garden Club went on its annual Pilgrimage on Thursday, March
28, to the Carleen Bright Arboretum in Woodway, Texas. We met in the Church of
Christ parking lot and then headed on our way at 9:15 a.m. When we got to the
Arboretum, we parked our vehicles and were met by a liaison to introduce us to our
guide for the day, Matt. He first directed us to the Event Pavilion Center, and we
relaxed for a bit after our journey. After that, we headed on our guided walking tour of
the different points of interest: The raised beds that were put in by the Green Life
Nursery, a cactus garden, and the different plantings along the path, we watched some
workers doing spring plantings while we were there, the overlook which used to be a
rose garden but they now use it for some native plantings and you can overlook the
creek that runs by the arboretum, the serene path that goes through the trees, a large
white gazebo that is used for weddings, the splash pad for the kids, a learning and rest
station/patio, and we saw a group of kids from Chapel Park Elementary on their learning
outing. There was so much to see, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Matt was not only
informative but patient with all our questions. After our tour, we drove to our lunch
destination not far from the Arboretum still in Woodway called Union Grove which is an
indoor food court with so many different types of food kiosks like pizza, wings, pho,
another Health Camp, ice cream, and cotton candy, just to name a few and plenty of
room to dine in. What a joy it was to be with these ladies and two husbands who
came with us. After we ate, some of us went home and some went on to do some
shopping. All in all, it was a greatly successful trip.
