A new restaurant is bringing Indian dishes to downtown Woodstock, and is preparing to celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon cutting, music and giveaways.
Sizzling Spices Fine Indian Cuisine's grand opening is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 2 at 106 Arnold Mill Road, Suite A-1 in Woodstock.
The restaurant is offering a free appetizer to the first 100 customers, and food specials, samples and favors will be available throughout the opening day.
Owner Mabrur Rahman said he’s bringing flavors from north India to the new restaurant. Menu items will include curry specials, tikka specials, biryani, tandoori, and of course, naan, he said. They’ll also have momos, a kind of dumpling popular in north India and the surrounding region.
Sizzling Spices is in a shopping center across the street from the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Amphitheater.
“It's a small spot, but it will be one of the best, I can tell you, years to come,” he said.
The restaurant launched a soft opening last week, and Rahman said the response from customers so far has been “overwhelming.”
“It's amazing,” he said. “The people that are turning out in the soft launch for the last few days, it's unbelievable.”
Joining Rahman as partner and head chef at Sizzling Spices is Rojesh Sakya, who is coming from Moon Indian Cuisine in Alpharetta, another Rahman-owned restaurant.
The grand opening event will kick off with a ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Michael Caldwell 11 a.m. June 2.
There will also be live musicians and a DJ at the event.
