Pedestrian killed, driver charged in Woodford crash
WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - One person is dead after a crash in Woodford County.
Versailles police say the crash happened in the westbound lanes of the Blue Grass Parkway around mile marker 64 around 4 p.m.
A 2015 Ford Explorer driven by Justin Vandewater was heading West on the parkway. KSP says he veered into the emergency lane and struck a pedestrian who was attempting to strap cargo down on a trailer.
The Woodford County Coroner’s Office says 44-year-old Heather Sowers of Nicholasville died in the crash.
According to Kentucky State Police Justin Vandewater has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence, vehicular homicide, and wanton endangerment.
The road was shut down for hours. It’s back open.
