WOODBURN, Ore. (KOIN) — Woodburn police are actively searching for a 26-year-old man wanted on multiple felony charges.

Police attempted to arrest Jesus Camarena at a home on Williams Avenue and Carol Street just after 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers set up a perimeter around the residence and ordered everyone inside to leave.

Nearly an hour and a half later, a heavily armored SWAT unit responded to the scene and issued a shelter-in-place for residents living in the area. Both directions of Highway 99 East were closed from Lincoln Street to Hardcastle Avenue.

Shortly before 5:45 p.m., authorities were granted a warrant to search the home Camerena was believed to be hiding in. When SWAT entered the home, however, Camarena was nowhere to be found, police said.

Camerena is wanted for felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, and assaulting an officer, as well as separate warrants for domestic violence and unlawful use of a weapon.
