Cantaloupe sold in Michigan recalled for health risks

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)—Eagle Produce has recalled 224 cases of whole cantaloupe because they could potentially be contaminated with salmonella. The fruits were sold in Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia between Aug. 13 and Aug. 17.

The fruits were sold at various retail supermarkets and can be identified by a red and white sticker with KANDY across the top and UPC number code 4050.

No other products or lot code dates are affected by this recall.

The State of Michigan conducted routine sample testing and detected salmonella in cantaloupe sold at retail.

No illnesses have been reported at this time, but the FDA is urging customers to not consume the fruits and to instead dispose of them.
