JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Science Hill High School (SHHS) will host its homecoming football game on Friday, and News Channel 11 will livestream the action, student life and school spirit throughout the night.

The Toppers will play the Union High School Bears at home, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will air live on ABC Tri-Cities and will stream on WJHL.com.

News Channel 11 spoke with Keith Turner, SHHS’s athletic director, who said homecoming is an exciting night for all schools.

“Well, homecoming is always a special time for any high school–or college, for that matter,” he said. “But you just have a lot of alumni and different people that haven’t been around in a while, too, to come. The whole school environment is different. The kids are excited.”

Turner said the football team has been dedicated to preparing for the homecoming game. He noted that the Toppers have “a lot of pride and tradition.”

“I just look forward to the whole night homecoming,” said Turner. “It’s jam-packed with the activities and recognitions and all that type of stuff. So, we’re recognizing it’s a group of people before the game and then homecoming activities at halftime or dance team, the band performing. So it’s just the format of trying to showcase what our student-athletes and our students do.”

Turner reminded fans to purchase tickets in advance on gofan.co or on the SHHS website.
