    Mountain City Post Office to close indefinitely for roof repairs

    MOUNTAIN CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A U.S. Post Office in Mountain City will be closed until further notice due to roof repairs.

    A sign posted on the door of the 216 South College Street Post Office states the location will be closed after Wednesday to repair structural issues with the roof.

    While repairs are ongoing, PO Box customers can pick up their mail at the Trade Post Office (164 Highway 67 North in Trade ) starting Thursday.

    The Johnson County government said in a social media post that oversight of the Mountain City Post Office is strictly up to the United States Postal Service (USPS). The full statement from county leaders can be found below:

    We have been notified that the U.S. Post Office on 216 S. College Street in Mountain City will be closing until further notice as of Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Details about how service will be impacted or altered during this time is not yet available in full. PLEASE NOTE: the oversight of the local post office falls under the United States Postal Service. As we receive official information, we will share it on this page.
